Athletics Day!

Hi Guy's here is a writing that I have been working on. This is about Athletics day. It was fun doing them all and Next Gear I want to try my best at everything. Please leave me a comment

On the 13th of october 2015, Pt England school had Athletics Day. Their was 4 different colors which was Hokule’a, Hinemoana, Te Aurere and Hikianalia. I was in Hokule’a yes Green! “Okay Girls Let's move on to the next activity” said Ms Hockley. It was time for High Jump. I was walking with my friends whispering to her ear and saying I won’t make it, I have short legs.

“Don’t worry at least you will give it ago and you tried your best” replied my friend. Miss King was telling us the instructions and we went off. There was 1 mat that was for the people that will just be doing it for fun and the other mat will be for people who wants to come 1st 2nd and 3rd.

I couldn’t decide which one I would go to so I said “I am going to go on the Fun Mat” but because miss King wanted me to go I didn't want to because it went higher and higher but I won’t make it. So It was my turn on the fun mat, than I go running as fast as I could and wondering if I could make it “JUMP” said my friends behind me, So I jumped and YAY!!! I did it.

My Confidence are back I am standing at the back of the line yelling “Make it Higher Make it Higher.” It was much harder now I took a Deep Breath when it was close to my turn. breathing in and out okay I am getting ready my face looked really series I ran as fast as I could and there I go I jumped and suddenly my foot touched the pole and there it goes, it suddenly dropped at the tip of my toe. “Oh Well at least you tried your best” said my friends behind me.

Overall it was fun doing high jump I didn't know I could make it through the first pole. Yay!!! later that day I was so proud of myself. Next Gear I am wanting to join High Jump Competition to come 1st, 2nd or 3rd, if I don’t I can try another time.

My Manaiakalani Recount

It was a hot sunny day, the Yrs 7 & 8 are waiting for the bus to come and drop us off to Sylvia park. “What are we doing at Sylvia park?” thought my new friend “Well this is where we go every year in Term 4 we create movies for kids and teachers from different schools to see and watch what we have been doing for the last few weeks.”

Waiting and waiting until beep beep the bus has arrived we lined up in Boy Girl lines. up we go on the bus, with our partners. We are now traveling to Sylvia park. We couldn't wait to see lots of different kids creating their own movies.

Oh and I just forgot that we were also excited because it was Ruapotaka school came with us and it was there first time coming to the Manaiakalani film festival. Out we go, we walk and walk until until we went inside the movie theater, walking past our Whanau the presenters.

Up goes Mr Burt introducing himself to schools, students, teachers and Presenters. The movie has begin at the back of me I could hear people cheering for their friends and supporting people. We watched almost 30 movies, some of them were interesting and cool. I was so embarrassed because it was our movie next, our movie was about the Air New Zealand Ad. “Here comes the Men in black” said Juliet next to me. I could see myself dancing, It was about to finish.

It was the last movie, sitting and waiting until it was time to go back to school. My favorite part of the film festival is Room 2 life of a germ, I liked it because this tells people to stop spreading their sickness to other people and you will never know that you have a cold.

Losing Things (School Bag)

Losing Things

“Ohh my gosh” in the last week of the holidays I lost my school bag. I only had 7 more days left until school will be starting Term 4. I couldn't stop looking for my bag because I didn't want to go to school with a plastic bag holding my lunch inside, that’s going to be so embarrassing. So on Tuesday I kept telling my siblings where they put it or whether the,v used it for something. “Raewen do you know where I put my school bag” “No” yelled Raewen from the living room.

So I went off telling the rest of my siblings “No” as I walked past their room, they knew that I was going to tell them Where's my Bag. I went off asking my parents to help me look for my School Bag. “I am Sorry Sweetie there is no sign of your bag” said my mum, “There is nothing” said my dad walking up to me.

After the next day it was Saturday morning. I woke up at around 7.30, I quickly woke up and thought it was school. I saw my Parents and Siblings still tucking themselves in sleeping in. It was lunchtime, my heart is Peeping Boomboom Boomboom Boomboom, I felt like telling my parents to go and buy me another school bag but I was too scared because sometimes I am not comfortable telling parents what I want and what I want them to buy.

So later that day my mum said “Have you found your bag yet Rowana” “No” once I answered back to her. “Ohhh you don’t to worry about anything and i mean anything” said my dad “why” I replied back “Well you have been working hard looking for that bag of yours, so we decided to buy you a new one, an Adidas School Bag” I couldn't thank my Mum and my Dad for buying me a bag. “Thanks Mum and Dad I couldn't done this without you.” Said myself.

That was so hard looking for your bag. On the first week at school I had the perfect day ever, Getting to hang with my Teachers and Friends. When you put things away make sure you know where you put it and make sure that you will remember otherwise you will lose it like me and have to ask and look for ages until some will find it or buy a new bag for you.

Recount Writing

"And here comes Nesian Fusion" yelled out Mr Burt with his Microphone, I was coming up the stage in front of the whole school my heart was pumping and I was feeling scared. We all lined up I was at the front leading with my partner Melenoa, facing at the back and telling the little ones to fill in the gaps, While I was telling the little ones to fill in the gaps I could tell that they were nervous by the look of there face.

The song has started we were nervous and we did our dancing bit with the stick. I was too scared because after the song, me and my partner had to do solo's Yes dancing on our own. I was getting my confidence back and now that I got  my confidence I decided to spin even faster and this time I felt Exhausted and tired of spinning.

Finally it was the last song I was embarrassed of myself because I dropped my stick but the most important thing to do it just keep going and keep smiling. So I did it, I heard my dad yelling "Go Rowana" at the back. I was so proud of myself because I dropped my stick and kept going. Personal Logo's

 In the past Few weeks our Literacy class has been working on how to Design our own Logo. A Logo is something that you represent and what is about yourself like Cultures and other stuff. I hope you enjoy your logo and please leave me a comment.

Firstly, brainstorm some ideas of what would be interesting as a personal logo. This personal logo can be about anything it can be about yourself if not the ideas will come up.

Next In this stage you will draw out thumbnail concept which is a drawing that is the same size as your thumb. So once you've finished drawing 4 - 5 thumbnail concept, pick 2 of your favorite drawings and add it to the logo.

After that draw the 2 pictures on hyper-studio and draw the rest of the logo and see how it looks then, print it on paper and see how it looks. If the logo looks cool on paper check if it needs any changes

Lastly think of what the logo you made could be used for. The logo could be used for a team, for decorations and more. Hope you enjoy :)

Cross Country Recount Writing

First it was the Year 5 girls, Next it was the Yr 7 girls, come on up girls “Yelled Mr Jacobson.” We walked up slowly I felt sooo Nervous and uncomfortable. We lined up on the starting line. Mr Burt was holding two pieces of wood to Clap and to start our running.

Then Mr Burt said “Are you Ready girls” yes as we answered back quickly. On your mark get set, Bang as the two pieces of wood clapped together. We all sprinted as fast as we could. I was so nervous because I thought that I will be coming last place but I was leading behind fast girls.

 After that I was catching up to the girls who was in front of me. “Come on Girls” said the teachers. I jogged and jogged until it was the second lap. I felt like I was going to faint. I was huffing and puffing while I was running.

 Finally I was nearly at the end of the line. I was power walking with my 2 friends and wanted to sprint at the finish line. There goes my dad calling out my name to sprint. I sprinted as fast as I could, my friends was behind me and they caught up to me. They were pushing me to get ahead but the finish line was right in front of us. We made it I came a tie with my friend.

 At last I was very very proud of myself and was proud of all of the girls who did the Cross Country run. I was sooo happy because I came 7th witch is in the top 10.  I hope you enjoy my Recount writing and please leave me a comment

Miss Kyla came in to our class and talked to us that Google is not dumb you are, like for an example if you wanna search up what time Ant man is coming up at the movies, you can't just write Ant man because it is going to come up with a picture's of him and that means that google is giving you the information that you wrote, so you should type up Sylvia Park Ant man Time because google will give the answer.

Groceries Store Mistakes.

Today Mrs Moala's friend went to Australia and posted a picture this week. My maths class and I had figured out that the store in Australia has gave the wrong prices to the customers. The first mistake that they gave was Any 2 for $5 and the last one was when they wrote down Hass Avocado offer Country of origin Australian grown. Immersion Assembly.

On the First day of Term 3 Pt England school had a Immersion Assembly. "1, 2, 3 BANG he has it" yelled out Mr Burt, Mr Burt is selling Rugby balls and basketball balls, he's trading money to either save it or buy something what he really needs. Our Topic for this Term 3 is Trade and Enterpri$e. "Now its time for Team 1" said Mr Burt. What Team 1 was learning about is to make things to sell at the market and to make money for what they want or need. "Ok it is time for team 2." What team 2's learning and doing for this term is to make Ice cream and might sell them to check if it actually taste like the real ice cream.

"Ok Now lets give it up for Team 3." Team 3 is learning about what you are going to be when you grow up and what your Job is like Fire Engine, Doctor, Netball player and more, its good to have a Job because you sometimes get pay every week. "Its time for Team 4" Sassy, Happy and Calm, there was a boy walking with his Dog while he was walking he found $50 he didn't know what to do so Happy came up to him and said " yay!!! I found $50. Then Sassy came and said something about what he should spend it on. Then here comes Calm, Calm said to the boy don't spend on anything spend on what you really need not on what you want, so Bob went off with Calm.

On the next day Bob was mowing because he is going to get $25 from his next door neighbor, he finished and said to his neighbor "i'm finish can I have my $25" "okay" as the neighbor replied back. So she gave him money "But this is only $10" said Bob " Well you didn't do it properly I can see that its a little bit taller then another so Bob said " "Okay I'll keep it." Here comes Happy " Yay I have $10" oh my gosh girl I mean do you really have $10 said Sassy "I would rather buy MC Donald for lunch" said Calm in a Calm voice, so Bob decided to have lunch and off he went with Calm.

"Now last but not least its time for Team 5" What Team 5's learning about is what will we do if we had money? Will we spend it on what we need or spend it on what we want?  What I think that if I find Money or if I have money I think that I will not buy it on what I want I want to buy it on what i need because if people comes in your house and you have a Massive T.V, A closet of flash cloths and have lots of toys well you have no food so I,ll rather buy things that I need cause you don't wanna buy more cloths and you have no food no no no you need everything that you need. So it is best to buy things that you really need or save up money.

Rough Draft Writing

On a rainy Friday morning it was Nanny Mcphee’s 125th birthday. Her daughter Smally went in her creepy bedroom and said “ Happy Birthday Mum” “ Ohh Thank you “ as she replied back. Smally and Nanny Mcphee went to the living room to have some breakfast, Smally made her some Scrambled eggs with toast and spaghetti. “I,m full would you mind taking this away please Smally” said Nanny Mcphee. Nanny Mcphee wanted to tell smally something that she wanted for her birthday.

“ I have to tell you something Smally” “ What is it” Smally said “ Can you steal money from people because I want to have my own Wheelchair to go faster because I am very slow at walking and I take 1 step in about 20 seconds” “Okay I will try my best to get you that money for your wheelchair.”

So she went off stealing Money while Nanny Mcphee was acting poor trying to get people to give her money. A few minutes later they came back home at the same time and counted the money. They were too disappointed because they only made $5.00 in 1 day. So they had another idea, they decided to act poor together to get more money. “What a clever idea said Smally.”

They counted the money and they made $45 “YAYYYY” said Nanny Mcphee when she was walking slowly at home. So they kept counting just encase it was the right money to get the wheelchair and it was $50.00 but they didn't have enough so Nanny Mcphee just remembered the money they raised on the other day 5.00 they raised. So they counted the $5.00 together with the $45.00 and it was $50.00 so they went off buying Nanny Mcphee's Wheelchair.

Hello Here is my Reading progressions 2. What I know about my Reading is that I moved up 1 level because I have asked for help as needed from group members. What I need to do to move up 1 or 2 levels is that I have to finish on time and to ask a teacher when I am stuck on something.

Maths progressions 2

Hello here is my Maths progressions. I think I moved up 2 levels and this means I am in Blue. I am in Blue because I can use the best strategy to solve a problem and I use other strategies to check my solution is correct. I can solve the problem step by step, what I need to do to move up 1 more level to be in purple is to have to explain to others the best strategy and justify why I have used it.

World War One

What me and my group did for the last few weeks we made a movie about 2 brothers who joined the World war 1. Their names are Peter and George, they were so excited to go to war because they didn't know that they were going to fight and shoot. They traveled and traveled until they got to war. Lots of men died and out of the brothers it was only George who survived and didn't lose any of his body.

So they got back home. George and Peter's Mother said "Hello Son where is Peter" George didn't want to tell his mother about Peter because he knows that she will freak out so George said " I am so sorry mother Peter is dead I din't protect him he tried running to me but the Germans Shoot him." "Waaaaaaa" said his Mother she was crying and freaked out and didn't know what to do so George dropped her and himself back home. The End

Maths Progressions.

Hello here is my Maths Progress, I am currently in orange because I talk to my friends all the time instead of working. What I have to do to move up on my Maths is to Focus always on my work and to sit away from my friends because they will distract me while I am doing my work.My goal is to move up in Green. Technology with Mr Burt

In the Afternoon, after Lunch eating we had a special visitor from our own Principle Mr Burt. He came and talked to us about his grandfather who took part of world war 1. He was talking about how the New Zealanders fought for our country and invented things that had been invented before.

 Mr Burt was talking about Technology, is it good or bad? He talked about the word Militarism. He said that Militarism was about back in the olden days they started fights for no reason like arguing and hitting each other.There was war between the British and the Germans. They were fighting how New Zealand made a battleship by the name of Dreadnought. 

Mr Burt even told us that his grandfather was the first person who got a bicycle a olden day bicycle, the bicycle had no brakes so this means if you go down the hill it won't stop so this means you have to stop it yourself from your own foot. He also said Lady's and Girl's isn't allow to go on the bicycle because they are wearing dresses and you don't want them to pull it up and let people see your undies.

This battleship dreadnought was all over the newspaper. The Germans built their own battleship bigger then the new Zealanders one. Then New Zealand built a bigger one and they were still arguing about their battleship if it is going to crash or not.

When Mr Burt finished his Story about his grandfather and what they did in war we all. All yrs 7 and 8 thought that Mr Burt was proud of his grandfather being in world war one because he and the rest risked out country's lives. 

I think it is really cool how Mr Burt came and talked to us about his grandfather. Isn't it cool people like our principle is talking about a real person who actually went to war WOW!!!

Future Aspiration Day.

On Wednesday 20th of may, special visitors came to our school to visit the yrs 7's and 8's. They were talking about how people didn't know them and now they know them really well, and come on television. The special visitors were Andrew Patterson, Louis Gorden Latty and Marcus Winter.

Andrew Patterson

Mr Patterson was talking about how you struggle, struggling is good for your mind because the struggle will learn from the mistakes from the past so "keep struggling" said Mr Patterson. Mr Patterson is well known as the people Collector. People collects toys or action figures but he collects people.

Louis Gorden Latty:
Louis LOVES to play Basketball. Louis made a app, it records the basketball game on the sideline and it makes you look like a cartoon character. Do you know how you have a score timer it is on the same iPad that records the game. The app is called Glory League and check it out.


Marcus Winter:
Marcus Winter is a famous artist not just with paint or pencil I mean he is a artist with sand. Most people call him sandman because obviously he a artist with sand. Marcus was talkiing to us about when he was a little boy in Primary School his teacher said that his writing is slow and I mean that if she call's the students in the ground Marcus is the only one left on the table writing slow. When Marcus was at the end of intermediate he got the certificate in academics and top marks in his school because he kept practicing and practicing. This week my Reading group has been learning about a book called The Anzac button, it is about a girl who found his great grandpas uniform in the draw. The uniform was their since the war has finished back in the day's. This little girl was called Lucy and her mum was Mary. As soon as they got the uniform out they sniffed it and it smelt really bad and it had lots of mouth holes on them, but the button was still nice and shiny. Lucy picked them out and kept them because Mary is going to chuck them out in the bin.

When Lucy picked the Shiny button out, she took the red ribbon of her hair and knit them into it. A while later they went to the Anzac Memorial  where you meet them and Lucy stacked the ribbon on her shirt for remembrance.

Poly Fest.

Kia Ora, talofa lava, malo e lelei, faakalofa lahi atu, kia orana, bula vinaka, namaste and greetings!!  It’s Pasifika week in Aotearoa, this means it’s a week long celebration of all things Pacific.  This includes the birthday dance we had with Mrs Tele’a!  Part of the celebration is the Polyfest!  This Thursday we are planning to travel to Manukau to take part in some workshops and then visit stages.  The two stages we will be visiting will be the Maori and Diversity stages.  Did you know that this event - the Poly Fest celebrates 40 years since it’s beginning?  Awesome isn't it!  

Young people and their whanau participate in the Poly Fest groups because they want to be seen on TV, they also want to participate in their event because they want to know how much fun it is to be on stage and to be dancing in their own culture groups.

Things you need to do on Stage

1. Focus

2.Concentrate

3.Confidence

4.No wasting time

5.No laughing while you are dancing

We all have different cultures and we want to learn about the other cultures like how they prepare food,cloths and other things they purpose.

What I am looking forward at the Poly Fest is seeing people dancing beautifully and how they look in their costume. They will look amazing in them and good at dancing. I am also looking forward at watching Tongan and Samoan groups dancing because that is my culture Chee Hoo Hoo.

My First Day Of School.

Hello everyone here is a Story about The First Day Of School. I had a lot of FUN on the first day of school. I hope you enjoy and please leave me a comment.

 “Wow look at all the building” I said. On the first day of school it was all different. I was a bit late to school but as soon as I was in assembly everyone just sat down. “O.M.G I can not believe that it is time to swap classes as my friend Ashley said.” As Mr Burt told the seniors to go to the yr 7 and 8 block we all stand up and silently walked. We all sat down in the street, a street is the inside hall for the yr 7 and 8. So we all sat down and Mrs Tele’a starts talking and presenting the teachers. “ 1st up is Mr Wiseman” said Mrs Tele’a “ Then it goes Mrs Clark then Mrs Moala and last but not least Miss Peato.”

So as they called out the list for room 5 they called out my name and I was so scared that my friends weren't there but as soon as I got to class I heard one of my friends called Juliet, Nikita, Shavana, Alizhay and Sarah. “Fewwwww” I said. So as all kids got into their classes it was ready to learn. Miss Peato was my Teacher and she was Kind and Lovely.

 In class we played People Bingo you have a paper and a pencil and start going to people if they are the eldest in the family or the youngest and if they are then you write there name down but you don’t write their name double times only one’s. So we went off looking for people and we only had 10 or 5 minutes. So we all went all over the place and it was actually fun because once they write your name you'll get to be friends with them and get to know them better.

 Then we had morning tea and have break time. After morning tea we did art we had to Sketch and do Portraits this means we have to draw our own face. Sketching is for our wall to put up because all our wall’s are empty and Portraits are for the wall as well so all Parents or caregiver can look at it. “Ring” as the bell went “Yay its Lunch time” we all sat down and started eating. Mrs Tele’a said if we want to relax and play inside we can but we have to sign our names.

 I love the first day of school i t was Awesome and Fun. What I liked about the first day of school was meeting my new Teacher it was her first time teaching for Pt England school but she has been teaching in lots of other schools.

Hello my name is Rowana I am a Year 7 at Pt england school. I am 11 years old and I am in class 5 my teacher is Miss Peato. In class 5 we have yr 7 and 8. This is my first year in intermediate. In our area we have classes 1 to 5. The teachers in our area are Miss Moala, Mr Wiseman, Miss Peato, Miss Clark and Mrs Tele'a. What I like to do in school is learn and create. What I like to do in my spare time is to Listen to music and get to go on my Maths Whizz. My goal this year is to move up on my reading and to get better at retelling about the story. When I am going to be a year 8 I will be with the year 7’s. In our area it is called the street.
