Summer Learning Journey
Imagine that you were alive in the 1930s. What could you have done to help these families? On your blog, list three different ways that you could raise funds for families to help them buy food and clothing. Be as creative as you can with your fundraising ideas!
1. I could do clothes sale, like get clothes that I don't want or can't fit and sell it
2. I could get the community to help me and we can work together as a team
3. I could create or invent something and maybe someone will be interested in what I can make.
This blog is a record of my learning during the years I was at Pt England School through to Tamaki College.

Summer Learning Journey
Summer learning Journey
In New Zealand, many people lost their jobs during this decade. Experts predict that as much as 30% of the population was unemployed. It was a very stressful time for families.
Sadly, many of us still experience stress in our lives to this day. When I feel stressed I try to go for a walk or pop into my local gym for a quick workout. Exercise makes me feel better.
When I am stressed I get very uncontrolled. When I am stressed I have to find something to make me unstressed. I sometimes go on my phone and put on loud music. One of my tips of how to not be stressed is to pour cold water on yourself or let someone do it. I know that this might sound ridiculous but it surprisingly works.

I give this amazing painting a rate of 5/5, Why because it is very beautiful. It is shown that the women is driving in a car, and that women is pretty. I love the shading details and the mixture of colours that are shown. It is very outstanding and amazing.

The 1920s saw a massive surge in the number of people going to the movies. Huge new cinemas were built in both Auckland (The Civic Theatre) and Dunedin (Empire De Luxe). The most popular type of movies showing at local NZ cinemas were ‘silent’ films. Gold Rush and The Lion's Cage are examples of iconic silent films. They feature a famous actor named Charlie Chaplin.
In this classic silent comedy, the Little Tramp (Charles Chaplin) heads north to join in the Klondike gold rush. Trapped in a small cabin by a blizzard. I really enjoyed this movie, I was interested in The Gold Rush then the Lions Cage. I think that I would enjoy Comedy silent films only because its funny and i think its better being silent then talking.

As I was reading the In Flanders Fields by John Mccrae Poem, it really hit me. When I was reading it, it reminded me of those Men and Women who fought for our Country. I am so happy that I have been brought to this world, New Zealand is a very beautiful country to be in, I am also very lucky to have the freedom that I have, thanks to those who have the right to fought for our country. We have sad times when it hits 25th of April, families who has lost there loved ones.

I think that back then it should of been every gender voting. All women have the right to vote and elect for the government. As I was reading I was a bit down, I was disappointing in the rules back then. I kept wondering to myself why wouldn't women's be allowed to vote, In my opinion i think that they should because they have the right to, they are from that country and each and every man and women should have the right to do everything together.
I enjoyed this activity because this gives my honest opinions and I know more about the voting and the elections. I hope you enjoy and please leave a comment.

Unlike the Māori, many of the European settlers didn’t speak Te Reo Māori. Instead, they spoke English. As you can imagine, it was very difficult for the two groups to communicate because they did not have a dictionary or a translator. These days we are able to use the Internet to translate words and phrases from one language to another.
Phrases:
1. Nau mai ki Aotearoa.
Welcome to New Zealand
2. ____ is my name.
Rowana ko tokuingoa
3. What is your name?
He aha to ingoa?
4. He pai taku ki te takaro i te whutupaoro.
Its nice to play Rugby
5. Where do you come from?
No hea koe?

Te iti Kahurangi, was my favorite because when I clicked on the video it showed up with many woman's being furious and it kinda scared me a little but what I could see from the performance was that they were all trying there hardest and that's what I liked about the group.
Tamatea Arikinui, was my second favorite performance because I liked there movements with there poi's and the group choreography was really good like they all went at the same time as a team and every looked like they were very happy and I loved they actions that they have shown
Te Puku o te ika, was my last favorite it was very good, i am proud of the group they tried there best and they never gave up. I also liked there performance because they were dedicating this song to someone very special that had passed away. They looked a bit sad but I knew that they were trying there best.
Keep up the best effort to all 3 Kapahaka Groups.

I have watched a video called Ki O Rahi, ki o rahi is based on the Purakau of Rahitutakakina and the rescue of his wife Tiarakurapakewai.
A large team game played between 2 teams, kioma and taniwha on a large circular field. Played for 4 quarters or 2 halves of a set time, teams alternate roles of Kīoma and Taniwha at half or quarter time.
Kīoma score by touching Pou/s with the Kī (for potential points) then running the Kī through Te Roto and placing it down in Pawero to convert pou touches into points. Kīoma stop the other team, Taniwha.
Taniwha score by hitting the Tupu with the Kī. Kīoma will have Kaitiaki (guardians) around the Tupu to stop Taniwha from hitting the Tupu. Depending on which variation is being played, Taniwha must stop Kīoma from scoring by either touching, 2 handed touch, ripping the tag or tackling them in the appropriate area.
The list of the game benefits that I know is,
Running, sidestepping, being evasive with a Kī
One handed and two handed accurate passing and catching
Flag/tag ripping skills
Jump shots and accurate shooting/throwing
Blocking
Communication and team work
